Safety: The safety of enteric-coated aspirin has been demonstrated in a number of endoscopic studies comparing enteric-coated aspirin and plain aspirin, as well as buffered aspirin and "arthritis strength" doses. In these studies, endoscopies were performed in healthy volunteers either before and/or during, and/or after administration of various aspirin doses. Compared to all the other preparations, the enteric-coated aspirin produced signficantly less damage to the gastric mucosa.
Bioavailability: Dissolution of the enteric coating occurs at a neutral to basic pH and is therefore dependent on gastric emptying into the duodenum. With continued dosing, appropriate therapeutic plasma levels are maintained.
How Supplied: Aspirin Regimen Bayer 325 mg (5 grains) is supplied in bottles of 100 caplets.
